OKC Events: Nov. 8 – 14

Hey Oklahoma City! I’m back again with events you won’t want to miss this week.

Shrek the Musical, which is based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film, brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre to life on stage this Tuesday through Sunday at the Civic Center Music Hall. Featuring a terrific score of 19 all-new songs, big laughs, great dancing and breathtaking scenery, Shrek the Musical is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and fun for everyone! Get tickets now starting at just $20.

This Tuesday night, Straight No Chaser, will be performing at the Rose State Performing Arts Theater. Also, don’t miss Wade Bowen this Friday night at the Wormy Dog Saloon in Bricktown and legendary country musician, Merle Haggard, will be at Firelake Grand Casino this Saturday night.

Cheer on Oklahoma City’s AHL team, the Barons, this Tuesday night when they host San Antonio and also on Friday night versus the Chicago Wolves. The games are played at the Cox Convention Center and single game tickets start at $14.

On Thursday night global comedy phenomenon, Jeff Dunham will entertain crowds at the Oklahoma City Arena. The comedian, who’s one of the top-grossing live comedy acts in the world, continues to sell-out venues for his “Identity Crisis Tour”. Tickets are available online or at the box office starting at $43.50.

The Oklahoma Sooners are home this Saturday and host Texas Tech in Norman. Cheer on the Sooners and head down to Campus Corner before the game to check out gameday live and visit the Oklahoma Lottery booth for your chance to win $5,000.

Cheer on the Oklahoma City Thunder this Friday when they host the Portland Trail Blazers and this Sunday when they host the San Antonio Spurs. Tickets to sit in Loud City start at just $10.

Rock N Rib Fest, Scottish Fest this Week in Tulsa

Gear up for lots of great event happening this week in the Tulsa area!

Check out Watermelon Slim at the Flytrap Music Hall this Wednesday night and Pixies at Brady Theater this Saturday. Also, the Rock N Rib Festival is at the BOK Center Thursday through Sunday. This four day festival features award-winning BBQ pitmasters from across the country and live music on the streets outside of the BOK Center.

Make sure to check out Macbeth and Pageant, the Musical, both at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center this week. Tickets for these events are available online or can be purchased at the box office.

This Thursday, don’t miss the 50th Annual Tulsa Greek Festival in Downtown Tulsa. This event is Tulsa’s oldest and longest-running ethnic festival and has home cooked Greek foods, authentically costumed dance groups, jewelry for sale, and much more. Another festival you won’t want to miss is the Oklahoma Scottish Festival. This event has dancing, drinking, dog shows and of course the Scottish Games.

And, once again, the OU Sooners are home this weekend and host Air Force at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman and the Oklahoma State Cowboys take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater.

State Fair, Live Music This Week in OKC

What a great week this will be! Here’s a bunch of exciting and fun things to check out. The only problem is deciding what to NOT do!

Check out live music at the Wormy Dog Saloon all week long including Brandon Jackson, Jessey Payne and Brandon Rhyder. Tickets for all shows are available online or at the door. Other musical acts you may want to see include Bullet for my Valentine at Diamond Ballroom, Neal McCoy at Riverwind Casino, The Black Jack Gypsys at the Conservatory and none other than Keith Sweat at Lucky Star Casino.

Don’t miss Cabaret OKC at the Civic Center Music Hall CitySpace Theater this Thursday through Sunday and Opening Night at the Civic Center on Saturday. As always, ticket links and prices can be found on wimgo.

The Route 66 Classics in the Park Car Show and Craft Fair is this Saturday in Edmond. This is great family fun for everyone and will feature over 200 classic automobiles, crafts and lots of great food.

Speaking of food, the Oklahoma State Fair starts this Thursday! Of course you can get all kinds of fried foods to try out, but don’t miss all the other great stuff the fair has to offer including, Disney on Ice and concerts by the Eli Young Band and The Marshall Tucker Band. Other great attractions include the auto show, the sea lion splash, and much more.

And, once again, the OU Sooners are home this weekend and host Air Force at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman and the Oklahoma State Cowboys take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane at Boone Pickens Stadium.

The Black Crowes, Medieval Fair in Tulsa this Week

Lots of great activities to check out this week in the Tulsa area. What’s on your calendar?

The Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival is set to rock Tulsa this Wednesday night. Tickets start at $33 and can be purchased online. Also this Wednesday night, The Black Crowes will be at Cain’s Ballroom and tickets for this show are only $45.

This Wednesday through Friday, the lovable classic, The Jungle Book, is at the Tulsa Performing Art Center and tickets are available starting at $15. Also at the performing arts center, don’t miss Macbeth this Friday and Saturday for just $35 and Tulsa Symphony – The Resilience of the Human Spirit this Saturday at the Chapman Music Hall for $10.

Go see entertainer and storyteller, Bill Harley, this Thursday at the Hardesty Regional Library Connor’s Cove and the King’s Champion Medieval Faire this Saturday and Sunday. Also, grab the family and head out to the Philbrook Museum this Saturday where the entire family can get in free all day long.

Check out great events at Expo Square this week, including the American Miniature Horse National Show, the Tulsa House Beautiful Show at QuikTrip Center and the Signature Sunday Custom Car Show.

Are you ready for some football? The Tulsa Golden Hurricanes have their first home game of the season this Saturday versus Bowling Green. Kickoff is set at 6 p.m. Also, Oklahoma State is home again this Saturday to host Troy and the OU Sooners have a tough battle against Florida State this Saturday in Norman. If you do get down to Norman, make sure to swing by Campus Corner and check the Oklahoma Lottery trailer for your chance to win $5,000!

Oktoberfest, Storytelling Festival in OKC

Now that Labor Day has come and gone, I guess summer is un-officially over. Don’t fret – still lots of great events to check out this week and weekend.

In the mood for food, beer and lederhosen? Then don’t miss Oktoberfest in Choctaw this Wednesday through Saturday!  The annual event has traditional folk dancing and singing, authentic costumes and a variety of German food and beer. The event is great for families of all ages and tickets are just $3 for adults.

There’s live music all week long at the Wormy Dog Saloon with Ricky Stein, Still Breathing, Whiskey Meyers and others. Also, go see comedy’s lovable queen of mean, Lisa Lampanelli, at Firelake Grand Casino on Saturday night for just $24.

The Oklahoma Storytelling Festival is this Friday and Saturday at the SandRidge Energy Tower in downtown Oklahoma City. This event has two entertaining evening performances, a late-night session of ghost stories and professional workshops. There are also kid-friendly events and the Community Outreach Program which provides free performances to at-risk youth.

Also, be sure to attend Septemberfest at the Oklahoma History Center this Saturday with Governor Brad Henry and First Lady Kim Henry. This free festival is your opportunity to explore and experience attractions, activities, exhibits, and demonstrations and features crafts, music, storytelling, historical reenactments, face-painting, and more.

Check out “Oklahoma Red Dirt Wedding” at the Yellow Rose Theater in Moore. According to the description, “you’ll hoot, you’ll holler, your have the time of your life”. Seriously. Who wouldn’t want to attend?

The Norman Arts Council presents 2nd Friday Circuit of Art this Friday night. The event is free and open to the public and for just $2 you can ride the CART around town (it’s like a trolley) to all of the local art galleries. Also this Friday night is Live on the Plaza in Oklahoma City’s Plaza District.

Are you ready for some football?! Oklahoma State is home again this Saturday to host Troy and the OU Sooners have a tough battle against Florida State this Saturday in Norman. John Mayer, Oklahoma Horror Fest this Week in Tulsa

As I said in my other post…I’m super excited this week because college football kicks off! I’m a huge fan and I’ll be wearing my crimson and cream on Saturday. But for those of you that aren’t as dedicated as I am, here’s a list of other events you might want to check out.

If you haven’t been to a Drillers game this season, you still have a few chances to cheer them on. The team is home at ONEOK Field now through Friday and tickets start at just $5. Also, check out The August Wilson Project at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center this Thursday, country singer Tanya Tucker at River Spirit Casino and STS9 and Ghostland Observatory at the River Parks Amphitheater this Friday night.

Don’t miss John Mayer at the BOK Center this Friday night with Owl City. Tickets for the concert are still available and start at $37. Also, The Kottonmouth Kings and Samantha Crain are both at Cain’s Ballroom this week. Tickets for these shows are $26 and $13 and are available online.

Horror is heading to Tulsa this Labor Day weekend with the Oklahoma Horror Film Festival & Convention. Don’t miss the spook-fest this Friday through Sunday at Spirit Bank Event Center.

And, for the pièce de résistance: College Football! Cheer on the Sooners when they host Utah State in Norman or the Cowboys in Stillwater as they take on the Washington State Cougars.

College Football, Labor Day Weekend Activities

I am beyond excited. College football starts this week! Anyone else as excited as I am? Moving on… if you’re not a football fan there are plenty of other events you won’t want to miss this week. Check it out and let me know what you’ve got planned.

Okay, there’s still time to catch an Oklahoma City RedHawks game this season at the Bricktown Ballpark. The team is home now through Monday, September 6 and tickets start at just $7. Can’t beat that for affordable family fun!

Seems every week has a good dose of live music and this week is no exception. Don’t miss Fireworks, The Swellers, Man Overboard and others at the Conservatory on Wednesday, The Non at Opolis in Norman, Samantha Crain at The Blue Door, Paul Eason and Whiskey Roadshow at the Wormy Dog Saloon and Smokey Robinson at Lucky Star Casino.

If you want to unwind after a long day at the office, be sure to go to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art on Thursday evenings for Cocktails on the Skyline Roof Terrace. Also, September is College Month at the OKC Museum of Art where college students get free admission all month long.

The 32nd Annual Arts Festival Oklahoma is this Saturday through Monday at Oklahoma City Community College. Here you can view and purchase original artwork and handicrafts, listen to live performances, and sample a diverse selection of foods. Another event for your calendar is the Buchanan Vintage Flea Market at State Fair Park.

It’s Labor Day weekend! Hope you get to enjoy some time off. A lot of museums are offering free admission to military and family this weekend, including the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art and the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History.

And for the Grand Finale: COLLEGE FOOTBALL! This Saturday, cheer on the Sooners when they host Utah State in Norman or the Cowboys in Stillwater as they take on the Washington State Cougars.

Twist & Shout This Week in OKC

Lots of great events for you to check out this week. That is, if you can handle the humidity!

The 2010 NCAA Women’s College World Series is at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium now through Wednesday. Tickets are still available online at ticketmaster.com. Also, get ready to Twist and Shout this week when Rain – A Tribute to the Beatles comes to the Civic Center Music Hall. Tickets for the show start at just $16 and are available online or at the door.

The 10th Annual deadCENTER Film Festival starts this Wednesday in Downtown Oklahoma City. This independent film festival will showcase over 100 films from all across the country with panels, workshops and numerous parties planned over five days.

The Oklahoma City RedHawks are home Thursday through Sunday at the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark and don’t miss Gavin DeGraw this Friday at Riverwind Casino.

Also, don’t miss Live on the Plaza in Oklahoma City’s Plaza District and 2nd Friday Circuit of Art in Norman. Other events to check out include the Bricktown Blues & BBQ Festival this Friday and Saturday, Groovefest in Norman on Sunday and Tim McGraw will be at the Zoo Amphitheatre this Sunday with special guests, Lady Antebellum.

NCAA Women’s College World Series, Live Music this Week in OKC

Hope you all had an awesome Memorial Day weekend. Mine was great but, of course, much too fast. Anyway, I hope you’ve recovered because there are a lot of events this week you won’t want to miss…

The 25th Annual Charlie Christian Music Fest started yesterday and lasts until Sunday. The event is held at several venues throughout downtown Oklahoma City and even some in Edmond.

Don’t miss country singer James Otto this Thursday at the Diamond Ballroom. Tickets for the show are just $15. Also, check out Kevin Pickett and Southern Rain this Friday or Sam Sliva and the Good this Saturday, both at the Wormy Dog Saloon.

St. Patrick’s Day, March Madness in Oklahoma City

Who’s out of school or off work this week due to Spring Break? Consider yourselves lucky, my friends. I’m working all week and part of my job is to present you with fun events all week long in and around Oklahoma City…so here I go:

This Wednesday is St. Patrick’s Day and ask you know, you better wear green! Also, make sure to check out the events around Oklahoma City, including the 19th Annual Bricktown Block Party which is an all-age event with free admission. For other related events, search St. Patrick’s Day at wimgo.com.

March Madness is finally here and the Ford Center is the place to catch NCAA basketball. Unfortunately, no Oklahoma teams are playing at the Ford Center, but Kansas and Kansas State will represent the Big 12.

Don’t miss country star Gary Allan this Saturday at Riverwind Casino. Tickets are available for $52. Also, make sure to hit up the Wormy Dog Saloon in Bricktown all week for live music including Keegan Reed, Cory Morrow, and Micky and the Motorcars.
