Sports, Live Music this Week Around OKC

Although I’m a self-proclaimed summer girl, I have to admit I’m slightly looking forward to fall and the cooler temperatures. But, as long as summer is here, you might as well get out and enjoy it!

First up, the Oklahoma City RedHawks are home this Tuesday through Friday at the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Tickets for the games start at only $7 so take the whole family out to the ballpark! Also, don’t miss the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz when they host their biggest rival, the Tulsa Talons, this Friday night at the Cox Convention Center. This is the last home game of the regular season so don’t miss your chance to cheer on the home team.

Check out Way Back Wednesday at the Oklahoma City Zoo. On this day, admission is only $1. That’s right – $1! Also don’t miss the Bricktown Reggaefest is this Friday and Saturday and this event is free and open to the public and will have a lot of great live music.

If you know the words that follow “Do a little dance…make a little love…” then you won’t want to miss KC & The Sunshine Band this Friday night at Firelake Grand Casino. Also, check out the Bandwagon Blues Festival at The Hidden Castle in Norman on Saturday and Sunday.

Also, make sure to go see Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park and their production, “The Comedy of Errors” and don’t miss Big Tony is Dead at the Yellow Rose Theater. To get your fair share of laughs, be sure to go see OKC Improv at the Ghostlight Theatre Club.

Lots of great events this week around Oklahoma City – what will you do?

Don’t miss Chitty Chitty Bang Bang now through Saturday at the Civic Center Music Hall for just $29. This show is based on the book by Ian Fleming and much loved 1968 film takes you on an incredible out-of-the-ordinary adventure.

There is a lot of live music this week around Oklahoma City including Peter Frampton with Yes at Lucky Star Casino, Lyle Lovett at Riverwind Casino, Ted Nugent at Frontier City on Saturday and up-and-coming country star Easton Corbin at Diamond Ballroom on Saturday. Cheer on the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz when they host Iowa this Saturday night at the Cox Convention Center. Also, go see the first-ever Battle in the Saddle all week long at State Fair Park.

Check out the Second Friday Circuit of Art this Friday night to visit various art galleries throughout Norman and join the fun at Live on the Plaza, also this Friday night, in Oklahoma City’s Plaza District.

Tool, Jazz in June this Week around OKC

Today marks the first day of summer, although it’s been incredibly hot for weeks now. Anyway, hope you have a great summer kick-off and remember, kids, to use sunscreen and drink lots of water (okay, I’m done being motherly to you all…).

Don’t miss Tool at the Ford Center on Wednesday with tickets starting at just $43. Also, The Temptations will be at Riverwind Casino this Friday night and the annual Jazz in June festival starts this Friday and runs through Sunday in venues throughout Norman.

Check out events at the Civic Center Music Hall this week including Pump Boys and Dinettes now through Saturday and Ralphie May on Thursday night. Tickets for all the shows can be purchased online or at the box office. If you’d rather watch a play under the stars, Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park will present Taming of the Shrew Thursday through Sunday at Bicentennial Park in downtown OKC.

The Wines of the West Festival is the place to be this Saturday in historic Stockyards City. As the name suggests, you’ll be able to sample some of Oklahoma’s finest wines in stores throughout the district. Also, don’t miss all of the other fun activities planned including bull riding and an evening block party concert by the Rodeo Opry.

Join me in cheering on our AFL team, the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz, this Saturday when they host Dallas at the Cox Convention Center. Other sporting events to put on your calendar include OKC RedHawks baseball on Saturday and Sunday at the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark and the Bricktown Brawl is this Friday night at the Coca-Cola Bricktown Events Center and tickets start at $35.

If you’d rather participate in sports, sign up now for the Adrian Peterson Football Camp. Now, I should point out that this event for kids only, so maybe I should have said ‘sign your kids up’. Regardless, this is a great way to get the kids some professional football training from an OU and NFL star!

Live Music, Bikelahoma this Week in Tulsa

Lots of great events this week in the Tulsa area. Get out and have some fun and for goodness sake, let me know what you’re going to do!

The Casey Donahew Band will be at Cain’s Ballroom this Thursday night and tickets are just $16. And We Are the Fallen hits up Cain’s on Sunday with $18 tickets.

The Trojan Women is this Thursday through Saturday at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. Tickets for this play, which is based on Greek mythology are just $25. Also at the  Performing Arts Center this Friday and Saturday is the Tony Awarding winning play, On Golden Pond, and tickets are $15.

Cheer on the Tulsa Drillers this Friday through Sunday when they host the Springfield Cardinals and don’t miss the AFL game at the BOK Center when the Talons host the Yard Dawgz. This is a big game between the rivals – the winner will be hold first place in the Southwest Division.

Bikelahoma 2010 is this weekend and features the Marshall Tucker Band, Jackyl, and Foghat. Tickets for the three day festival in Pryor are just $45. Oh – and don’t miss the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival this Saturday and Sunday at the Castle of Muskogee. They know how to do it up right at this festival, which is every weekend in the month of May.

Theatre, Roller Derby in OKC this Week

Here’s the deal…Oklahoma weather can be tricky. Very, very tricky. But I never let it get in the way of making plans and you shouldn’t either! Weather allowing, here are some things you might want to check out in the OKC area:

Reduxion Theatre presents Titus Andronicus at the City Arts Center this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Tickets for this play, which is one of Shakespeare’s bloodiest and most tragic, are just $15. Also, if you’re a subscriber to wimgo Daily Deals, you’re automatically entered to win four tickets to this show!

Go see We Are the Fallen this Saturday at the Diamond Ballroom. Tickets for the show are available online or at the door and are just $10. Also, don’t don’t miss the Oklahoma City Roller Derby Double Header this Saturday. The event is a fundraiser for MS and will be held at the Oklahoma City Farmers Market. Tickets for this event are also just $10 and are available at the door. And can I just add – I love the roller derby! Such fun.

Travel up the turnpike to cheer on the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz as they take on the Tulsa Talons this Saturday at the BOK Center. This match up between the rivals will determine who will hold first place in the Southwest Division.

Styx, Big 12 Softball in OKC this Week

First of all I just want to say I hope and your family were safe in yesterdays crazy, stormy weather. Oklahoma weather is wild!

Now, I hope the weather for the rest of the week is nice so you can enjoy some or all of these events happening around Oklahoma City.

The 6th Annual Wormy Dog Spring Jam is this Saturday night with bands No Justice, Reckless Kelly and Mama Sweet. Tickets are just $10 and are available online or at the door.

Check out the Bikes and Bricks Street party this Saturday in Bricktown. This event is free and open to the public and features lots of great live music, food and biker activities.

Go see Top Girls or The Three B’s at the Civic Center Music Hall this Friday or Saturday and Styx along with Foreigner and Kansas will be at the Zoo Amphitheater this Friday night. Tickets for all of these events are available online or at the door.

Check out ARTini this Saturday at the Oklahoma City Famer’s Market. This fundraising event for Allied Arts includes live music, an art auction and a martini tasting. For your chance to win 2 tickets to the event, comment here.

Cirque Dreams, Bedlam Baseball in OKC this Week

May is finally here and it brings with it food, fun and fantasy. Have a great week and let me know what events you are going to attend.

I’ve been to a Cirque performance and it was simply amazing, so don’t miss your chance to see Cirque Dreams Illumination this Tuesday through Sunday at the Civic Center Music Hall. This action packed show is set in a fantastical cityscape of dimension and special effects and tickets start at just $16 – what a great Mother’s Day gift!

It’s time to party this Wednesday to celebrate Cinco de Mayo! There are a lot of parties to check out around the city, but a couple you won’t want to miss include the Eat Drink Fiesta at Iguana Mexican Grill and the Cinco de Mayo party at Citywalk in Bricktown.

This Friday is the first outdoor concert of the summer at the Zoo Amphitheater and it’s a doozy. KATTFEST, featuring bands Three Days Grace, Papa Roach, and Puddle of Mudd, is this Friday night and tickets can be purchased online starting at just $42.

If you know me well you know I’m an OU Sooner fan – so I can’t wait to cheer on the guys this weeked at the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark for some Bedlam Baseball! Tickets are available online. Also, cheer on everyone’s favorite arena football team, the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz, when they host Bossier-Shreveport this Saturday at the Cox Convention Center.

Rock and Worship Roadshow, Thunder this Week in OKC

Lots of great stuff to check out this week around Oklahoma City, including:

The Rock and Worship Roadshow, featuring artists like Mercy Me, the David Crowder Band, and Francesca Battistelli, will be at the Ford Center this Thursday night. Admission is only $10 at the door – can’t beat that!

Driving Miss Daisy is at the Lyric Theatre now through Sunday, April 25, and tickets are just $30. And don’t miss Beethoven’s Ninth featuring the Canterbury Choral Society this Saturday at the Civic Center Music Hall for just $55.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have their final home game of the regular season this Wednesday night at the Ford Center – so go and cheer them on! Tickets start at just $10.

Also, the Oklahoma City RedHawks are home now through Thursday with tickets starting at only $7 and the Yard Dawgz arena football team have their second home game of the season this Saturday at the Cox Convention Center and tickets are just $10.

Other events you won’t want to miss include the Heart Walk on Saturday at the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark and Lil Jon at Citywalk on Friday.

Also, even though this event is months away, you need to get tickets now for the Rock N America Festival this July at the Zoo Amp. Tickets are just $100 for all three days of the festival and will go fast – so get your tickets now!
