Events in Tulsa This Week

There’s a lot going on in Tulsa this week, including: 

The Eli Young Band at Cain’s Ballroom this Friday and Saturday. Tickets to see the country band are just $23 and are available at the box office or online.

Attention outdoorsmen and women! This Friday through Sunday, check out the Midwest Outdoor Sports Show at the Tulsa Convention Center.  Here you can try out some of the latest hunting equipment and accessories and have the chance to meet some of the top hunting outfitters from around the country.

Also at the Convention Center this week, the Tulsa 66ers host Iowa on Thursday and check out the Green Clean Expo on Saturday where you can learn how improve your indoor environment with safer air quality.

If you have a talented canine, make sure to sign them up for the 2010 Dog Bowl on Sunday at Cain’s Ballroom. There are 7 events for your dog to compete in as well as live music, prizes and a silent auction.

Things to do in Oklahoma

Oklahoma is hoppin’ this week. Check out these events:

The Oklahoma City Thunder are home this Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at the Ford Center. Best part? Tickets to sit in loud city are only $10.

Join me on Friday and go see Oklahoma band SafetySuit as they hit up Diamond Ballroom. The band has recently toured with Collective Soul and Three Doors Down and their video for “Stay” was #1 on VH1’s Top 20 countdown. Joining SafetySuit is Parachute and Graham Colton and tickets are just $10.

Another Oklahoma band, Aranda, makes a stop at Oklahoma City Limits on Saturday night and tickets are just $10.

Also check out the Gun and Knife show at State Fair Park all weekend long in the Travel and Transportation Building. Admission is only $12.

There are a lot of opportunities for you to help out Haiti, including the Hearts for Haiti walk this Saturday morning at Crossroads Mall, the Haiti Relief Benefit Concert, the Help Haiti Now concert, and the Hour of Need…Hour to Help concert on Sunday.

George Strait-Reba McEntire tickets sell out in an hour in Tulsa, setting BOK Center record

Tickets to the upcoming George Strait and Reba McEntire concert at Tulsa’s BOK Center sold out in less than an hour Saturday morning, according to a news release from the venue. This marks the first time in the history of the BOK Center that more than 18,000 tickets have been sold for one event.

“The demand for this show is phenomenal,” said John Bolton, general manager of the BOK Center, in a news release. “It has been as high as all the shows we’ve had in the past and it’s…

What to do in Oklahoma on Jan. 25, 2010

NORMAN – Hear Travis Linville and other local musicians play a benefit for Haiti earthquake relief at 7 tonight at The Deli, 309 White Street.

In addition to Linville’s weekly Monday show, the benefit will feature Camille Harp, Resident funk members and Mama Sweet members jamming the rest of the night. The venue will take cash donations benefiting Doctors Without Borders and the American Red Cross at the door.

Tickets on sale Jan. 29 for Straight No Chaser’s May 8 Tulsa show

A capella singing group Straight No Chaser will perform at 8 p.m. May 8 at the Tulsa Convention Center’s Assembly Hall, 100 Civic Center.

Tickets for the show go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 29.

Tickets for the all-ages show are priced at $30 in advance, $35 day of the show. They will be available online at www.bokcenter.com, at the Arby’s Box Office and all Tickets.com outlets, or by phone at (866) 7BOKCTR.

Oklahoma City-based improv and comedy troupe Red Dirt Improv will begin today a run of shows titled “9 Fridays at 9” at the Individual Artists of Oklahoma Gallery, 706 W Sheridan.

National Cowboy Museum opens “When Animals Attack?” exhibit

“When Animals Attack!”, a three-part TV series that debuted on Fox television in 1996, sparked a nationwide fascination that continues to this day. Although this compilation of real-life attacks seemed to be the first of its kind, century-old stereographic images reveal Americans took interest in animal encounter mishaps long before this documentary.
