Mmm Bop, baby

Two words helped to define my junior high experience:  Mmm bop.

Alright, define may be a stretch, but I clearly remember the glory days of Oklahoma’s own boy band, Hanson, and rushing out to purchase their first album “Middle of Nowhere”. “Mmm Bop” was the song of 7th grade.

Since then, the boys have all but fallen off the map… that is until now.  Hanson is now on tour and will make a stop at Tulsa’s Cain’s Ballroom on Wednesday night (9/30) with Hello Goodbye.

Tickets can be purchased online starting at $32.

Mmm Bop, baby.

Oklahoma State Fair

Mention the State Fair and it will most likely conjure up thoughts of fried food, carnival rides, and people watching.  I have to admit — I’m a big fan of the State Fair.  It’s always so much fun and is right in the middle of my favorite season!

There are a lot of events planned this year at the fair and wimgo has them all listed!  Just click “State Fair” on the homepage for a complete list of what to do and who to see.

Some of the planned events include Okie Karaoke, Disney on Ice, Monster Truck Rally, and the rodeo.  Several concerts are planned for the Fair and include Boyz II Men, The Black Crowes, Gary Allan, 38 Special and other well-known acts.

I’ll spend some time at the Fair this year giving away various prizes to our fans and followers.  Make sure to follow wimgo on Twitter and be our fan on Facebook  for your chance to win!

What are you looking forward to the most?  For me, I think it’s the food and my friend’s band, House of Black, performance on Monday, September 21st.

 Have a blast!

The End of Summer Draws Near

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you are aware that college football starts this weekend in Oklahoma….and it’s about time!  I’ll be heading to Dallas for the OU-BYU game with 20 of my closest friends and family and will, of course, be donning the crimson and cream.

If you’re looking for non-football-related activities, you have plenty of options in Oklahoma this week.

As you know, Labor Day signals the end of summertime’s care-free days, but that doesn’t mean Oklahomans can’t have fun-and lots of it. Across the state, we’ve got rodeos, parades, festivals and more. Go to wimgo and search “Labor Day” or use the one-click option on our homepage to find an event near you.

This Saturday through Monday is Arts Festival Oklahoma at Oklahoma City Community College. The Festival is free and features over 150 artists from across the nation. Children’s activities, food vendors, and an entertainment stage make this an event the entire family can enjoy.

This week is your final chance to gather under the stars for Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park. Their season’s closing production is Shakespeare’s beloved comedy Twelfth Night.  Through Saturday, enjoy the show for only $10 on the Water Stage in Oklahoma City’s beautiful Myriad Botanical Gardens.

Have a great weekend, enjoy what’s left of your summer, and go, team, go.
