Show Time

I try to get out and see the world, but my schedule and budget do not always allow. Maybe that’s why I’m such a fan of reading and watching movies. A bit of living vicariously through someone (or something) else can’t hurt, right?

Well this week I went and saw “Inglorious Basterds”. I wasn’t quite sure what I would think of the film, but it was excellent! Definitely adults only – but if you like Quentin Tarantino’s style, you’ll love this film. It’s set in Nazi-occupied France during World War II.  The story is untraditional, imaginative and unusually funny.

wimgo is a great place to find movie listings and reviews. Just visit http://www.wimgo.com/movies to see what’s playing in your area.

On a side note, I recommend the Warren Theatre in Moore. That place is amazing!

wimgo™ iPhone app

As if they could read my thoughts, the masterminds behind wimgo have created a new, completely free iPhone app!  The app is a guide to restaurants in the Oklahoma City metro area and features cuisines in every category, from American to Thai to Italian and Greek (and everything in between).

The app will be especially useful for my husband and me in our weekly quest for an exotic dinner date.  We usually wander through town in the car, get frustrated and end up at  the ’default’ restaurant we’ve been to a thousand times.

Thanks to wimgo, the problem is solved!  Download the app for free today and dump indecisiveness for good!

Stay tuned for app updates (events, business listings & more).

Prison, Baseball, Death & more!

Have you ever uttered the words, “There’s nothing to do in Oklahoma”? If so…shame on you!  Despite what the outside world may think, Oklahoma has a ton of things to do.  Here are a few events I recommend this week.

Ahhh prison.  If you have a hankering for something a little different, make sure to check out the McAlester Prison Rodeo this weekend.  Where else can you see bulls, broncs and inmates all in one convenient location?

This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday is the RedRiver Hunting and Fishing Expo at State Fair Park.  Now, I don’t hunt and I don’t have the patience to fish, but if this is up your alley, make sure to check it out.  Admission is only eight bucks (see what I did there?) for all three days and children 12 and under get in free. wimgo is even giving away a hunting trip and a fishing trip to two lucky winners.

Of course, there’s a lot of other stuff to do this weekend: RedHawks baseball, Brandon Heath and Family Force 5 at Frontier City, and Death of a Salesman at Pollard Theatre, just to name a few.

Regardless of what you do, have fun and enjoy the rest of summer!

The countdown has begun…

Things that make me uncontrollably happy… coffee, traveling, warm weather, and, I can’t lie, Sooner football. Yes, it’s true. I’m pretty much addicted and attend every game I can.  My family, friends and I tailgate for every home game and I just got tickets to the OU vs. BYU game at the new Dallas Cowboys stadium on September 5th.  Pretty darn excited.

Since that game is 30 days, 7 hours, and 16 minutes away (but who’s counting?), here are some things that would be super sweet to check out this weekend:

Hunky Australian Keith Urban and dynamic duo Sugarland will be in concert on Friday night at the BOK Center.  Go check him, err, them out for only $20.

If you’re a fan of Mel Brooks (and you really should be), you must go see his musical “The Producers” at the Civic Center Music Hall now through Saturday.  It’s just about as off the wall as Brooks and will have you holding your sides with laughter!

Here’s a FREE event just for you!  The Summer Twilight Concert Series continues this Sunday night at the Myriad Botanical Gardens and starts at 7 p.m.  Enjoy live music and the beautiful gardens with your friends and family.

Happy Thursday!
